Passenger Ferry

The fast, modern passenger ferry takes only twenty five minutes to reach the island and operates to the following timetable. It is usually only 10 minutes by car from Townsville airport to the ferry terminal, but, given the infrequency of the service at certain times of the day and week, we strongly recommend you arrange flights which land at least forty minutes prior to your intended ferry’s departure. Bookings are not necessary.

Vehicle Barge

The barge leaves from Ross Street on the South side of the river, opposite the passenger ferry and takes forty minutes to reach the island, on this timetable.
Vehicle bookings are essential, as is your arrival fifteen minutes prior to your intended barge’s departure

airline information

The island is only 9km off Townsville and is actually under the Townsville City Council. From Townsville there is a choice of a passenger ferry or a vehicle barge service to Magnetic Harbour.

Airline information

Most visitors fly to Townsville on the many flights provided by Jetstar, Virgin Blue and Qantas. There are taxis and a shuttle bus to take people from the airport to the passenger ferry terminal. However, our privileged Bright Point Deluxe guests are welcome to request a free limo pick up from the airport!
